Cheater Route

The Spanish Fork exit from I-15 is a bitch.  Pure and simple.  So what's a prudent traveler to do?  Why pick a cheater route, of course?  We will eddy out well upriver on I-15 at Exit #261.  From there it's a short hop over to Highway 89.  Turn right (South) on 89 and there is only one medium tricky spot in Springville.  Everything else is casual and relaxing.

Here is the first move of the Cheater Route.  Get off at Exit #261. It's a classic Old School exit.

Then head due east not very far to intersect Highway 89.  Since it's right up against the mountain, it won't be hard to make the correct turn to the south.

The boave is a general overview of what the Cheater Route does.  After getting off I-1 and then turning South, we simply continue through Springville until Hwy 89 becomes a much bigger road.

The crux move is in Springville where we have to be in the far right lane as we pass the Walgreen's so that we merge correctly onto Hwy 89.

22 Miles

Believe it or not, The Long Scenic Route from Provo to Capitol Reef is only 22 miles longer than the ordinary shorter route.

By taking the longer route, we hope to be able to stay in Price Canyon, Ferron State Park an then drive Utah SR 72 to Loa.
